Serving with Heart, Uplifting Society
Sewa is at the very core of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS UK) — more than an activity, it is a way of life. Rooted in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the timeless ideal of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“the world is one family”), it inspires us to serve without seeking reward, guided instead by compassion, duty, and unity.
From young children to grandparents, swayamsevaks and sevikas across the UK step forward to make a difference — feeding the homeless, planting trees, supporting hospices, mental health and disability charities, and offering a helping hand wherever it is needed.
Sewa is not just about what we do, but who we become: stronger in spirit, deeper in connection, and united in purpose. Every act of kindness creates ripples of change — building a society that truly cares, connects, and uplifts.

In 2023 alone, our local shakhas:
- Raised over £20,000 for more than 30 local charities
- Participated in walkathons, blood drives, fun days, cultural performances, and tree-planting
- Engaged youth, elders, and families in purposeful action
We believe real impact is local — and long-lasting. Our partnerships with grassroots organisations strengthen communities and empower volunteers to become leaders through service.
Our senior generation has dedicated their lives engaging in community activities and are as enthusiastic as ever to give back more.
While their knees may ache from the years of energetic service, their wise counsel, sense of stability, resilience is inspirational and their warmth & love for the next generation is truly boundless!

Why We Serve
We serve not for recognition, but because it is the right thing to do. Every action — whether raising funds, giving blood, planting trees, or simply offering a smile — reflects the spirit of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”: The world is one family. Join us as we build a society rooted in compassion, courage, and collective strength. Because when we serve together, we grow together.
